Renowned TikTok, 31 others apprehended for suspected cyber fraud in Kaduna

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s Kaduna Zonal Command successfully apprehended Crown Uzama, widely recognized as ShalliPopi, a prominent musician on the TikTok platform, as well as his manager, Ajayi Abdul Hafeez, known as 21 Badda.

This was disclosed in a statement released by the commission via its Facebook page on Wednesday May 31, 2023.

According to the statement, these individuals, alongside 29 other suspects, including four females named Glory Chinyere Kelvin Ogunwa, Tina Ochonogor, Favour Baba Dawa, and Joseph Judith Iya, were taken into custody on allegations related to internet-based fraudulent activities.

“The arrests were made following actionable intelligence regarding a planned gathering of suspected cyber fraudsters in the Barnawa area of Kaduna,” the statement reads.

It adds, “Sting operations were conducted at various establishments in the vicinity, namely Disney Park Lounge, Epitome, and Tomoso Hotels, leading to the apprehension of the suspects.

“Seized items during the operations encompassed mobile phones, laptop computers, and two vehicles.”

The commission disclosed that investigation is currently underway, and upon its conclusion, the suspects will be presented before a court of law for prosecution.
