Diaspora support group donates three vehicles to Oriyomi Hamzat’s 2027 campaign
The Oriyomi Support Group USA has donated three branded vehicles to support Dr. Oriyomi Hamzat’s governorship aspiration ahead of the 2027 election in Oyo State.
The vehicles were presented in Ibadan on Sunday, August 2, 2026, with the group describing the intervention as a practical contribution to the campaign’s grassroots mobilisation efforts across the state.
According to OSG USA, the vehicles were purchased through contributions from members in the United States who support Hamzat’s advocacy, philanthropic activities and stated vision for Oyo State.
Speaking at the presentation, the group’s Coordinator I, Mrs. Toyosi Oladipo, said members had followed Hamzat’s public service and social justice advocacy for several years.
“We have followed Oriyomi Hamzat’s activities in society over the years,” Oladipo said. “As a philanthropist and strong advocate for social justice, we believe he can make a greater impact if supported to become governor of Oyo State in 2027.”
She called on residents and other supporters to participate in the political process and assess Hamzat’s aspiration on the strength of his record, proposed policies and capacity to govern.
Coordinator II of OSG USA, Alhaja Rashidat Aina, described the donation as an expression of solidarity from Nigerians in the diaspora.
Aina said transportation remained essential to political engagement in a geographically diverse state such as Oyo, adding that the vehicles would help campaign representatives reach more communities and interact directly with residents.
The group said it recognised the logistical difficulties involved in conducting a statewide campaign and considered the donation a strategic investment in community outreach.
Beyond promoting a candidate, effective grassroots engagement should provide residents with opportunities to question aspirants about education, healthcare, employment, infrastructure, security and accountable governance. Political mobilisation becomes more meaningful when it enables citizens to compare concrete policy proposals rather than merely generating visibility for candidates.
OSG USA described itself as a volunteer-led organisation comprising Hamzat’s supporters across the United States. It said its activities include civic advocacy, community outreach, fundraising and mobilisation in support of what it described as inclusive leadership and grassroots development in Oyo State.
The group thanked members whose financial contributions made the vehicle donation possible.
However, the statement did not disclose the cost of the vehicles, the mechanism through which the donation would be recorded or the safeguards established to ensure compliance with applicable campaign-finance and electoral regulations.
It also did not include a response from Hamzat or details of the policy programme on which his anticipated governorship campaign would be based. These disclosures would help voters assess both the transparency of the campaign’s financing and the substance of the political alternative being presented.
