Police Arrest Robbery Suspect Operating in Malete

The Kwara State Police Command has announced the arrest and the commencement of prosecution of individuals connected to the recent armed robberies targeting students of Kwara State University living in Malete community.
The Commissioner of Police, Kwara state command, Adekimi Ojo, disclosed this on Friday, July 11, 2025, during a press conference to highlight the security agency’s achievements in curbing crime and criminality in the state.
The CP noted that the arrest was made through a joint security patrol in which a suspect, identified as Adamu Nuhu was arrested in Malete with different digital gadgets and accessories suspected to have been forcefully taken from students in Malete.
CP Ojo added that the suspect admitted to participating in a series of coordinated robberies on 3 student accommodations in the community.
“The suspect admitted that he and 2 other accomplices who are currently at large carried out the attack wielding cutlasses and using force to rob approximately 15 students of their phones and other valuables.
“Following intelligence gathered during investigation, 2 other suspects, Dauda Amuda and Dare Alabi, both residents of Ilorin, were also arrested in connection with the crime. Their role as collaborators or receivers of the stolen property are being further scrutinised,” the police boss said.
He added that the arrested individuals have been formally charged to court and remanded while effort is being intensified to apprehend the 2 fleeing suspects.
CP Ojo warned criminal elements to steer clear of the state as the police command would not compromise in its strategic and intelligence-led operation to rid Kwara of criminal syndicates.
