Reactions have been flowing from Nigerians on social media barely some hours after the operatives of the Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, detained the popular cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, a.k.a Bobrisky, for allegedly abusing Naira notes.

The anti-graft agency had invited the 31-year-old following a video report of spraying and flaunting wads of new Naira notes at the premiere of a movie, Ajakaju, produced by Eniola Ajao, a Nollywood actress and producer, at Film One Circle Mall, Lekki, Lagos on March 24, 2024.

Following the invitation by the Commission, he arrived at the Lagos Zonal Command of the EFCC on the morning of Wednesday, April 4, 2024, for interrogation and volunteered his statements, the EFCC said.

The agency added that Bobrisky will soon be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

Meanwhile, many Nigerians have taken to various social media platforms to air their opinion following the arrest of the controversial cross-dresser.

While some netizens commended the detention of Bobrisky as a welcome development, others simply took it as a mere comic relief.

Topsy Pounds said on Facebook:  “SHE should be charged to court and if found guilty HE should face the wrath of the law. Meanwhile, HE has been a bad example to this generation. SHE is found of HIS usual habit of what I cannot even describe. How can SHE do such a thing. Is HE not informed or has SHE not read? HIS actions must be weigh and HER” inactions too.

Adamu Goje on his part stressed the need to stop the promotion of individuals with controversial character in the society. He said: “I like these three statements: ‘He had also committed…’, ‘He arrived at the Lagos zonal office…’, and ‘He will soon be charged to court.’ Nigeria should stop promoting individuals of this nature.”

Saleh Idriss said” his man she has to face court prosecution against his actions of mistreating money, meanwhile he knows that what she is doing is against the country’s law. Her wrong deed wasn’t be accepted therefore he has to be punished.”

Chuka Ogbueli, however, disagreed with the arrest of Bobrisky, arguing that the socialist is not the first popular Nigerian to abuse the naira. “Please is he/she the only person spraying naira, when obicubana buried his mother people not only sprayed money but they used money to play football and no arrest was made, at times Nigeria doesn’t treat her citizens well, its unfair.” He concluded.
