2023 Convention: Lagbaja highlights role of regimental sergeant majors
Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja has highlighted the indispensable role of Regimental Sergeant Majors (RSMs) as critical stakeholders in the Nigerian Army.
The Second Regimental Sergeant Majors Convention 2023, held at El’edua Multipurpose Hall in Ibadan, served as a platform for addressing concerns about the declining quality of RSMs within the Nigerian Army.
Expressing his deep concern over the quality decline, COAS Lagbaja emphasized the necessity of initiatives like the RSM’s Convention.
The convention featured intentional lectures aimed at addressing the identified issues and fostering improvements within the ranks. Lieutenant General Lagbaja urged participants to carry the valuable lessons, contributions, and ideas garnered during the convention back to their respective formations and units for effective implementation.
Acknowledging the significance of the convention, Major General Jimmy Akpor, Chief of Administration Army, commended COAS Lagbaja for providing the opportunity for such a pivotal gathering.
Major General Akpor emphasized the timely nature of the convention, noting its potential to enhance personnel’s administrative capabilities.
The convention delved into crucial topics such as Troop motivation, mentorship skills, Emotional Intelligence, and Leadership during its comprehensive lectures. These discussions aimed to equip attendees with the necessary skills and knowledge to elevate their roles within the Nigerian Army.
Adding a touch of environmental consciousness to the event, highlights included a symbolic tree planting ceremony, symbolizing growth, resilience, and a commitment to positive change.
