Assassins kill renowned U.I professor, Opeyemi Ajewole

Professor Opeyemi Isaac Ajewole of the Forest Resources and Management department at the University of Ibadan has been reportedly assassinated by unknown gunmen on the way to his residence in Ibadan.

This was confirmed by a statement from his colleague on Tuesday, May 6, 2023.

Professor Ajewole left his workplace on Monday evening before being attacked on his way home. The cause of the attack is yet to be known and the matter is under investigation by the men of the Nigeria Police Force, NPF.

“It is true. He was killed last night while returning home. They shot him and took his car. He was my friend. I just confirmed from a member of his Faculty now,” the statement reads.

Ajewole  is a senior lecturer and professor of Social and Environmental Forestry who has a lot of academic works in his attribution and cited by many academicians.

His death remains huge loss to the prestigious university of Ibadan and academic community at large.
