Buhari salutes Nigerian president-elect at 71, reaffirms confidence in Tinubu’s leadership

The President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, has saluted the national leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on the occasion of his 71st birthday celebration.

Tinubu is the president-elect, who will take over the mantle of presidency from May 29, 2023.

Buhari certified that he is capable to consummate the position with his past outstanding records of leadership in both public and private sectors.

The special adviser to the president on Media & Publicity, Femi Adesina, disclosed in a statement on Tuesday March 28, 2023.

Buhari said, “Asiwaju’s warmth, friendliness and generosity has set the pace for a network of friends, home and abroad, that will shape his presidency with requisite expertise.

He assured Nigerians that Tinubu will guide the economy, and consolidate on the investments of past leaders, particularly in people-first development and infrastructure.

Buhari maintained that the victory of APC in the just-concluded general election was due to his incredible support for diverse political players in every nooks and crannies of the country without tribal, religious or gender animosity.

President Buhari expressed his felicitations with Tinubu’s family, particularly, his politically rooted wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and other well-wishers as they celebrate the man of virtue.

Buhari concluded with prayer for the wellbeing of Tinubu and his family to sail the country in the next 4 years to greater heights.

Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a Nigerian accountant and politician who is the president-elect of Nigeria. He served as governor of Lagos State from 1999 to 2007 and senator for Lagos West during the brief Third Republic.

This year will be the third in recent times that the birthday colloquium would not hold in deference to developments in the country.

In 2020, the 12th edition of the colloquium marking the president-elect 68th birthday was called off to empathise with those who lost their lives or affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
