Troops Arrest Six Suspected Terrorist Logistics Suppliers, Recover Starlink, Fertiliser, Other Materials in Borno
Troops of Sector 1, Operation HADIN KAI, have intercepted a suspected terrorist logistics network and arrested six suspects during an intelligence-driven operation in Borno State.
The operation, carried out around 4:00 p.m. on July 19, 2026, targeted a suspected terrorist supply route in the North-East theatre. According to the military, the suspects were travelling in five vehicles while transporting a large consignment of materials allegedly destined for terrorist elements.
Items recovered from the suspects included 202 cartons of herbicides, one jerrycan containing a suspected acidic substance, a Starlink wireless internet communication system, six bags of NPK fertiliser, 10 bags of rice, 50 hoes, and 20 packs of knapsack sprayer pumps.
In a statement issued on Monday in Maiduguri, Acting Military Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, said preliminary assessment showed that the recovered items had potential dual-use applications capable of supporting terrorist logistics, sustainment, mobility, and communications.
He added that the NPK fertiliser and the suspected acid would undergo further technical and forensic examination to determine whether they were intended for the fabrication of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
The military described the seizure as a significant disruption of suspected terrorist supply networks and a further blow to their operational capability.
Captain Goni said the six suspects and all recovered items had been handed over to the appropriate Military Intelligence Regiment for comprehensive investigation aimed at identifying the intended recipients, uncovering the wider logistics network, and apprehending other collaborators and sponsors.
He noted that preliminary debriefings of rescued hostages and surrendered terrorist families indicated that sustained disruption of terrorist logistics and supply chains had severely weakened terrorist groups operating in the region.
According to the debriefings, persistent shortages of food, medical supplies, communications equipment, and other essential logistics have forced many terrorists to abandon their enclaves, families, and captives while fleeing continued military pressure.
“Operation HADIN KAI remains resolute in dismantling terrorist logistics and support networks through sustained intelligence-driven operations,” Goni said.
He added that the military would continue to target terrorists, their financiers, logistics suppliers, informants, and collaborators in order to deny them the resources and freedom of movement required to sustain terrorist activities.
The military also urged members of the public to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information on suspicious persons, movements, and activities within their communities, describing public cooperation as vital to the success of ongoing counter-terrorism operations in the North-East.
