Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has said his administration has delivered more projects and policies for the Muslim community than any previous government in the state’s history.

The governor made the assertion on Sunday while addressing members of the Osun State Muslim Community in Osogbo, where he highlighted what he described as landmark interventions for the Islamic faith since assuming office.

Adeleke said his administration was addressing long-standing gaps neglected by previous governments, citing the construction of the state’s first Hajj camp in over a decade, the building of a mosque within the Government House, the constitution of the Hajj Welfare Board, and the formalisation of the issuance of Islamic marriage certificates.

According to him, Osun had remained the only state in the South-West without a Hajj camp for 12 years before his administration, adding that the project was nearing completion.

He also said the newly introduced Islamic marriage certificate system had become operational and directed that its administration be handled by the Osun State Muslim Community.

The governor further stated that Muslims have been fairly represented in his administration, noting that many of his principal officers and cabinet members are adherents of the Islamic faith.

Adeleke contrasted his administration’s record with that of the opposition, urging residents to assess leaders based on their contributions to the welfare of the Muslim community.

Also speaking at the event, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Political Affairs, Alhaji Muniru Raji, commended Adeleke for implementing policies and projects that, according to him, have advanced the interests of Muslims in the state.

He expressed confidence that the governor would do more if re-elected in the August 15 governorship election.

Earlier, Chairman of the Osun State Muslim Community, Alhaji Mustapha Olawuyi, said the engagement formed part of the community’s initiative to provide an open platform for governorship candidates to present their programmes and policies.

Olawuyi appreciated the governor for his interventions and presented additional requests on behalf of the Muslim community, urging him to continue promoting fairness and inclusiveness across religious groups.

The governor attended the event alongside members of the Imole Campaign Council and the Osun State Executive Council.
