2026 Hajj: Nigerian Pilgrim Dies in Saudi Arabia

A Nigerian pilgrim from Adamawa State, Mallama Aishatu Muhammadu, has died in Saudi Arabia during the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage.

The 73-year-old woman, who was from Gombi Local Government Area, reportedly died after suffering a cardiac arrest while travelling from Jeddah to Madinah.

The incident was confirmed by the spokesperson of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, Fatima Usara, in a statement released on Sunday.

According to the statement, the Chairman of NAHCON, Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf, extended condolences to the family of the deceased on behalf of the Federal Government.

He described the death as a painful loss and prayed for Allah to grant the late pilgrim Aljannatul Firdaus.

Ambassador Yusuf also assured the family that the government would work with the Adamawa State Pilgrims Welfare Commission to return her personal belongings, including her travel allowance and death certificate.

The deceased is survived by children, grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
