The Federal Government has reiterated its resolve to reposition Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as a key driver of Nigeria’s industrial and economic transformation.

This commitment was restated during an interactive meeting of Executive Secretaries, Permanent Secretaries, and Directors of State TVET Boards and Departments, convened by the Federal Ministry of Education at its headquarters in Abuja to strengthen collaboration and implementation strategies for the new national TVET initiative.

Declaring the meeting open, the Director of Technology and Science Education, Dr. (Mrs.) Adenike Olodo, described the initiative as a transformative agenda designed to align education with 21st-century economic realities. She urged stakeholders to spearhead a “skills revolution” that will make TVET the engine of Nigeria’s industrial growth and job creation.

Dr. Olodo noted that the success of the programme depends on active state participation, stressing that TVET remains the bridge to employment, entrepreneurship, and self-reliance.

With representatives from 22 states in attendance, the meeting reviewed the national TVET framework, clarified institutional roles, and explored effective strategies for implementation and monitoring. The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with states, private sector players, and development agencies to build a skilled workforce that enhances national productivity, competitiveness, and sustainable development.
