The Ekiti State Police Command has reacted to a viral social media video showing armed security personnel breaking into an apartment in Ado-Ekiti, clarifying that the Police is not part of the controversial group allegedly behind the act.

In a statement released on Saturday, July 26, 2025, the Command said it was aware of the video circulating online where some armed men, alleged to be part of a unit called Operation Flush—a purported joint task force of various security agencies—were seen forcefully entering a residential apartment.

Reacting to the public outrage that followed the incident, the Ekiti State Police Command firmly distanced itself from the operation.

“The Police is not part of the Operation Flush Unit as being alleged by a section of the public. The Police does not operate any unit called Operation Flush,” the statement clarified.

While condemning the act, the Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph Eribo, ordered a discreet and thorough investigation to uncover the facts behind the incident and to ensure that justice is served.

“The Command frowns at the incident and the Commissioner of Police, CP JOSEPH ERIBO, has ordered a thorough investigation into the incident with the view to unraveling the facts and ensuring justice,” the statement read.

CP Eribo also urged calm among residents and encouraged anyone with relevant information, particularly the victims, to come forward and assist with the investigation.

The Police Command reassured the public of its commitment to the rule of law, respect for citizens’ rights, and protection of lives and property across Ekiti State.

“The Command will continue to support the rule of law, respect the rights of citizens and ensure maximum security for the lives and property of the good people of Ekiti State,” the statement concluded.
