The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, brought Mushin Local Government Area of Lagos State to a standstill with a mega rally held in preparation for the July 12 local government elections.

The electrifying gathering united party leaders, supporters, traditional rulers, and residents in a powerful show of strength and solidarity.

The rally was organized to mobilize support for all APC chairmanship and councillorship candidates in Mushin, including the party’s flagbearer for chairmanship, Hon. Haruna Olatunbosun Aruwe, and his running mate, Hon. Semiu Ishola Karaole.

In a symbolic and strategic highlight of the event, Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon officially presented the party flags to all the candidates, charging them and the electorate to remain focused and united.

Addressing the crowd, Senator Solomon urged party members to be wary of distractions from emerging opposition forces.

“Don’t be deceived by the newly formed coalition. We have to remain focused. What you are seeing in this local government is still small. You have a lot to benefit from. APC is a great party. What we are benefiting from during this Asiwaju administration was last enjoyed during the Awolowo era. Incidentally, we are currently on the spot that Awolowo used to raise the flag for Lagosians. Continue to support APC.”

He added, “After the voting, let’s all wait to count our votes to avoid manipulation.”

Also speaking, Hon. Olayinka Kazeem, member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Mushin II, reaffirmed the competence of APC’s chosen candidates.

“He is a tested political leader. He has performed excellently as the current vice-chairman of this local government, and we are confident he will do even more this time. I urge all Mushin residents to vote massively for him and all our councillorship candidates,” he said.

Aremo (JP) Michael Kufisile, Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee for the Mushin LG Election 2025 and former APC LGA Chairman, explained the purpose of the rally.

He said, “This is a mega rally to mobilize everyone—non-indigenes, royal fathers, teachers, community leaders, and party faithful. We are showcasing what APC has done and why the people should vote for us again.”

He went on to highlight some of the key achievements of the party in the past eight years.

“This road wasn’t like this before. Over 93 roads have been constructed. Healthcare delivery has improved. At this very moment, cataract and diabetes treatments are ongoing with over 100 residents benefiting. We are not just talking—we are delivering.”

Hon. Oluwatoyin Moses Fayinka, Member of the Federal House of Representatives (Mushin II), commended the strategic candidate selections and the leadership in the local government.

Fayinka stated, “What we’re witnessing today is a reaffirmation of the people’s trust in APC. With the array of competent candidates we’ve presented, Mushin is poised for even greater development.”

Alhaji Adisa Babatunde Shittabey, Mushin APC Party Chairman, spoke of the party’s readiness and unity: “APC in Mushin is not just ready—we are united and stronger than ever. July 12 is a date with history. Our people will vote overwhelmingly.”

Alhaja Muyinat Mustapha, the APC Woman Leader in Mushin, praised the relentless efforts of women in galvanizing support for the party.

She noted, “Our women are the backbone of this movement. We’ve gone door-to-door, market-to-market. Come Saturday, our votes will speak loud and clear.”

In his closing remarks, the Executive Chairman of Mushin Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Olanrewaju Bamigboye, expressed confidence in the APC’s chances and reaffirmed the council’s commitment.

He said, “We are not just aiming to win—we are targeting the highest number of votes in Lagos State. Let us go all out, mobilize our communities, and ensure APC’s total victory on July 12.”
