The National Headquarters of NASFAT (Nasrul-Lahi-l-Fatih Society) dispatched its National Guidance and Counselling (G&C) Team led by Comrade Akeem Olaniyi on a working visit to the Ikotun Branch under Lagos Zone 2 yesterday 6th July 2025.

The visit was graciously hosted by the Lagos Zone 2 Coordinator, Alhaja Mojisola Owolawi, who warmly welcomed the delegation and ensured a successful outing for all stakeholders involved.

The visitation formed part of a nationwide initiative aimed at strengthening the role of guidance and counselling in fostering unity, moral discipline, and emotional well-being among members of the society. It also sought to reinforce the role of NASFAT branches as safe spaces for personal development, emotional support, and conflict resolution in line with Islamic principles.

Upon arrival at the Ikotun branch, the National G&C Team was met with a rosy and heartfelt reception from the branch executives and members. The warm hospitality created an atmosphere of belonging, solidarity, and brotherhood, aligning perfectly with NASFAT’s core values of love, peace, and mutual respect.

One of the major highlights of the visit was the series of impactful lectures delivered by the National Guidance and Counselling Team. These sessions focused on:

Alternative Conflict Resolution (ACR): Members were educated on non-violent and faith-based strategies for resolving interpersonal and communal disputes. Practical methods of resolving conflicts through dialogue, understanding, and empathy were emphasized.

Peace Building and Peace Making: The team discussed proactive steps toward building lasting peace within families, communities, and the nation. Emphasis was placed on the Islamic principles of tolerance, forgiveness, and constructive communication.

The sessions were interactive and deeply engaging, allowing members to share personal experiences, ask questions, and receive professional guidance on various issues affecting their well-being and relationships.

In her closing remarks, Alhaja Ganiyat Mojisola Owolawi, the NASFAT Lagos Zone 2 Coordinator, expressed her heartfelt appreciation to the visiting team for their commitment, hard work, and the value they continue to add to the zonal activities.

She underscored the importance of pre-marital and marital counselling, especially in addressing the alarming rise in divorce rates which, she noted, often results in broken homes and has negative consequences for children. According to her, many of these children — products of fractured family systems — may suffer emotional instability, and in extreme cases, become societal threats due to lack of proper parental care and guidance

Alhaja Ganiyat Owolawi commended the team’s efforts in promoting emotional and spiritual guidance across all NASFAT branches and underscored the importance of sustaining such initiatives. She also highlighted that in June 2025, physical and sensitization programmes had been successfully conducted for all counsellors serving in Lagos Zone 2, at NAṢFAT Igando-Egan – Obadore-Akesan Branch. These programmes, she noted, were designed to enhance the capacity of counsellors, equip them with practical tools, and strengthen the overall impact of the G&C units at the grassroots level.

She commended the team’s efforts in promoting emotional and spiritual guidance across all NASFAT branches and underscored the importance of sustaining such initiatives. She further urged members to take the messages to heart and practice peace at every level of their lives — from their individual homes to the broader national landscape.

> “Peace starts from within,” she noted. “When we cultivate peace in our hearts and homes, it will radiate outward and influence our communities and the nation positively. Let us be ambassadors of peace in our words, actions, and thoughts.”

She emphasized that NASFAT, through the G&C arm, is committed to providing marital guidance to help couples navigate challenges and build strong, God-fearing homes that can raise responsible and emotionally balanced children.

In addition, Alhaja Ganiyat highlighted the importance of career counselling for youths, stressing the need to guide them in choosing the right educational and professional paths. She urged parents and the society at large to support the younger generation with the right tools and direction to excel in their chosen careers while maintaining their spiritual and moral foundations.

She concluded by reiterating the commitment of NASFAT Lagos Zone 2 under the leadership of Engr Abdulganiyu Jumah Adebayo administration to supporting national programs and initiatives, especially those that uplift the moral, emotional, and spiritual well-being of members.

This oversight visit to Ikotun Branch not only strengthened the bond between the National G&C Team and the NASFAT Lagos Zone 2 leadership but also served as a reminder of the society’s collective responsibility in nurturing peace, mutual respect, and spiritual excellence.

The event ended on a high note, with prayers, appreciation, and renewed commitment to advancing NASFAT’s mission through guidance, counselling, and exemplary moral conduct.
