A senior police officer, CSP Modestus Ojiebe, serving under the Kwara State Police Command, was abducted by suspected armed men along the Kubwa Expressway in Abuja late Sunday night.

According to intelligence sources, as reported by Zagazola, the incident unfolded near Dei-Dei Barracks after Ojiebe’s Toyota Corolla broke down.

As he attempted to fix the vehicle, an ash-colored Mercedes-Benz carrying four armed men pulled up behind him.

The assailants searched and robbed Ojiebe and his wife, seizing their mobile phones and ATM cards. However, upon discovering his police identity card, they forced him into their vehicle and sped off, leaving his wife and their car abandoned at the scene.

In response to the abduction, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Dawaki Division was alerted via a distress call and swiftly deployed a patrol team to the area.

Security forces have since intensified stop-and-search operations at key entry and exit points of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in a bid to rescue the officer and track down the kidnappers.
