Mob attacks police officers in Jos, injures inspector over drug seizure
A police officer sustained severe injuries after being attacked by a mob while transporting confiscated hard drugs to the station in Jos North Local Government Area, Plateau State.
The incident, first reported by security analyst Zagazola Makama on his official X handle on Monday, occurred at Polo Roundabout in the early hours of Saturday.
According to the report, two officers from the ‘C’ Division of the Nigeria Police Force had attempted to arrest a suspect caught with hard drugs. However, the suspect abandoned a bag containing drugs and other illicit substances, including Indian hemp, before escaping into the Jenta Adamu area of Jos North.
Shortly after, the suspect returned with a group of motorcycle riders, who ambushed the officers as they transported the recovered items to the station.
During the violent assault, Inspector Ikale Muhammed suffered serious injuries and was immediately rushed to Bingham University Teaching Hospital for treatment.
