The Zamfara State Hisbah Commission hosted a grand mass wedding for 100 couples in the state on Wednesday.

At the significant occasion, Governor Dauda Lawal served as the guardian for the grooms, while the Emir of Zamfara, Alhaji Attahiru Ahmad, fulfilled the role of guardian for the brides.

Governor Lawal generously paid a dowry of N100,000 for each bride and an additional N50,000 to cover other wedding-related expenses.

In a show of solidarity, Jamilu Jibo, the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), contributed N20,000 to each bride.

The Commander of the Hisbah Commission highlighted the importance of marital harmony and declared that medical tests were conducted before the ceremony to ensure the health of all participants.

He also stressed that any decision that could harm a marriage should not be made without consulting the Hisbah Commission.

The Commission outlined a structured process for resolving marital issues, starting at the district head level and escalating to the Emirate before reaching the Hisbah headquarters. This approach aims to reduce divorce rates and encourage stable marriages.

The ceremony was attended by prominent dignitaries, including the Emirs of Anka, Gusau, and Dansadau, along with key government officials. Additionally, the state government provided essential household items such as beds, wardrobes, and kitchenware to support the newlyweds.
