Al-Hikmah University loses lecturer in fatal car accident

Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Nigeria, has announced the death of Dr. Sikiru Atanda Adenigba, the Acting Head of the Department of Islamic Studies.

Dr. Adenigba, a dedicated and respected academic, lost his life in a fatal car accident on Thursday, July 18, 2024, along the Ibadan-Lagos Expressway.

Dr. Adenigba, born in 1969, joined Al-Hikmah University in 2011 as an Assistant Lecturer and rose through the ranks to become a Reader, a position he attained just last month.

His colleagues and students remembered him as a diligent, committed, and loyal staff member who was admired by all.

In a statement, the management of Al-Hikmah University expressed their condolences and prayed for the deceased, saying “May Almighty Allah (SWT) forgive him and grant him eternal rest in Aljanat Fridaus. Ameen.”

Dr. Adenigba is survived by his aged father, wife, and children. His passing has left a great void in the academic community, and he will be deeply missed.

The statement reads in full:

CONDOLENCE

“It is with grief and sorrow that the Management of Al-Hikmah University hereby anmounce the death of Dr. Sikiru Atanda Adenigba (1969 – 2024) the Acting Head of Department, Islamic Studies, who died in a fatal motor accident at about 5.39pm yesterday, Thursday, 18th July, 2024 along Ibadan-Lagos Expressway.

“Dr. Adenigba joined the service of Al-Hikmah University on 1st April, 2011 as Assistant Lecturer and was promoted to the rank of Reader 7th June, 2024.

“Dr. Adenigba was a diligent,  committed,  loyal and God-fearing staff. He was admired by both his colleagues and students.

“He is survived by his aged father, wife and children.

“May Almighty Allah (SWT) forgive him and grant him eternal rest in Aljanat Fridaus.  Ameen.”
