Sudan welcomes Ethiopian prime minister on working visit

In a bid to strengthen bilateral relations and address the ongoing conflict in Sudan, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali arrived in Port Sudan on Tuesday morning for a one-day visit.
Abiy was received by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF).
According to a statement from the council, discussions will focus on advancing joint cooperation between Khartoum and Addis Ababa and finding sustainable solutions for Sudan’s stability.
Sudan is currently facing a deadly conflict between its regular armed forces (SAF) and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), resulting in over 17,000 deaths and displacing over 10 million people.
However, Al-Burhan has previously accused Ethiopia and Kenya of backing the RSF by hosting and supporting its leadership.
