Sultan declares June 16 as Eid-El-Kabir, urges Muslims to pray for peace, progress of Nigeria

The Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has officially declared Friday, June 7th, 2024, as the first day of Zulhijja 1445AH.

This declaration sets the date for this year’s Eid-El-Kabir, which will be celebrated on Sunday, June 16th, 2024, equivalent to 10th Zulhijja.

This was comtained in a statement signed by Professor Sambo Wali Junaidu, Chairman, Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council, Sokoto.

The Sultan extended his warm felicitations to the Nigerian Muslim community, wishing them Allah’s guidance and blessings.

His Eminence also urged Muslims to continue praying for peace, progress, and development in the country. The Sultan wished all Muslims a Happy Eid-El-Kabir, praying that Allah accepts their religious deeds.

The declaration and goodwill message from the Sultan mark the beginning of the Eid-El-Kabir celebrations, a significant Islamic holiday commemorating the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son.

Muslims across Nigeria and everywhere around the world are expected to mark the festival with prayers, charity, and festivities, promoting unity, love, and spiritual growth.
