With the Super Eagles of Nigeria set to play the Palancas Negras of Angola in the quarterfinals, President Bola Tinubu has urged the former champions to aim high and deliver the win for the country.

President Tinubu spoke with the team from France where he is currently on a private visit.

Seyi, Tinubu’s son, posted videos of the president conversing with the Super Eagles team via video chat while wearing the team’s home jersey on his Instagram stories.

“Mr President Tinubu giving Super Eagles a quick pep talk ahead of today’s AFCON QF match against Angola,” the caption reads.

The Super Eagles will lock horns with Angola at the Stade Félix Houphouët Biogny in Abidjan at 6:00 pm (West African Time/Nigeria time).

A win for the Nigerians will see them progress to the semi-final for the first time in five years.

The Super Eagles dispatched arch rivals Cameroon 2-0 at the same venue in the round of 16 to reach the quarter-finals.

As three-time AFCON winners, Nigeria are expected to have too much quality and experience for their opponents on paper.
