Governor AbdulRahman condemns killing of Kwara monarch, abduction of wife, two others
Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has denounced the killing of Olukoro of Koro in Ekiti Local Government, HRH retired General Segun Aremu.
The local government was thrown into chaos after its traditional head was reportedly shot dead in his palace on Thursday night by some unidentified gunmen, who also took away his wife and two others.
The governor condemned the development, which he said was reckless, shocking, and abominable.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Radius Ajakaye, the Kwara State Governor charged the security agencies not to spare any resources to track down the perpetrators, free the wife and others taken away, and bring them to book.
“We will certainly get the perpetrators and ensure that this is their last crime against humanity,” the Governor said, adding: “My profound condolences go to the people of Koro. Our hearts are broken, and we stand by them at this time and always.”
Sitting in the north-central geopolitical zone, Kwara State is one of the most peaceful states in the country. However, the state has not been freed from the raging cases of kidnapping that have become the norm in Nigeria.
The state government has vowed to stem the crime and bring the perpetrators to justice.
