President Tinubu attends Saudi-Africa summit to bolster investment, security ties

President Bola Tinubu is set to depart the nation’s capital for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in what marks his maiden voyage to the inaugural Saudi-Africa Summit.

The summit, slated for Friday, is anticipated to be a pivotal moment for Nigeria, fostering international relations, investment, and regional security efforts.

Presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, revealed the details of the President’s overseas mission in a statement released from Abuja on Wednesday, highlighting the summit’s significance for Nigeria’s economic prospects.

The trip is expected to underscore Nigeria’s dedication to attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and expanding business partnerships, aligned with the ongoing domestic economic reforms spearheaded by the Tinubu administration.

Ngelale further elaborated on the key issues to be discussed during the summit, emphasizing the need for joint action, political coordination, and the collective response to regional security threats.

Additionally, discussions will revolve around the stimulation of economic transformation, including research initiatives and the development of new energy solutions aimed at bolstering cross-sectoral investment cooperation.

Accompanying President Tinubu on this diplomatic endeavor are prominent members of his cabinet, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar; Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman; and the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance, Mr. Wale Edun. The delegation also includes key figures like the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, and the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Sen. Abubakar Bagudu.

Furthermore, the entourage boasts individuals with significant roles in national security and intelligence, such as the National Security Adviser (NSA), Malam Nuhu Ribadu; the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Ahmed Abubakar; and the Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, Mallam Jalal Arabi.

Ajuri Ngelale concluded the statement by confirming that President Tinubu would return to Abuja after the successful conclusion of the Saudi-Africa Summit, signifying the importance of this international gathering for Nigeria’s future endeavors on the global stage.
