Zulum directs rehabilitation of Maiduguri Specialist Hospital, doctors’ residence
Borno State Governor, Mr. Babagana Umara Zulum has ordered the remodeling of the State’s Specialist Hospital in Maiduguri, saying everything depends on health.
He also directed rehabilitation of ‘Buba Marwa House,’ which serves as an accommodation for medical doctors working with Specialist Hospital, stating that more structures need to be built for the hospital.
The governor gave both directives on Saturday, 26th August, 2023, while conducting an on-the-spot assessment visit to the hospital.
Following the assessment, Zulum said, “We have examined the capacity of the hospital, and we will soon embark on erecting more structures and making certain adjustments in such a way that doctors and other health allied staff will have offices in the premises.”
He also assured the staff on duty that more medical equipment and professionals will be purchased and recruited, respectively.
“Borno State Government will procure medical equipments that are currently not available at the hospital. We will recruit more doctors and nurses and ensure wash facilities are provided.” the governor noted.
He noted that “all these efforts are geared towards re-positioning the health care system in Borno State”.
Zulum went to the hospital in the company of top government officials and the secretary to the state government, Bukar Tijjani.
