Kwara inaugurates palliative distribution committee
Kwara State Kwara State Governor Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has inaugurated a 12-member Committee on distribution of the N5 billion palliative by the federal government of Nigeria
The Chairman of Nigeria’s Governors Forum urged the committee to discharge their duties with transparency and even distribution across the state.
The palliative was introduced by the Federal Government to ease the difficulties arising from the fuel subsidy removal and to strengthen the Nigerian economy.
Terms of reference
The terms of reference for the committee include:
- To reach out to different stakeholders and communities, including labour union, trade unions, and marketers
- To generate a list of beneficiaries,
- Coordinate and distribute the palliative rice in 10kg bags
- Advise the government on the best way to handle the maize component of the palliative.
Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq also said the receipt of the balance of N2 billion from the federal government to purchase new consignments of food items would determine the timeframe for the assignment.
Speaking on behalf of the Committee, the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Ebunoluwa Rotimi Adelesi commended the Governor for finding them worthy to serve the state at this crucial time.
Other members of the committee are Emir of Tsonga, Dr Haliru Yahaya, Abdulrasheed Shafi (DSS); Prof Hamzah Abdulraheem (Secretary General of JNI, Kwara State), Bishop Sunday Timothy Adewole (CAN), Dr Lawal Olohungbebe (CSO), Mrs Grace Funke Bolaji (CSO), Dr Saudat AbdulBaqi, Stephen Owoyale, Comrade Yusuf Bashir (Persons with Disability); Binta Abubakar Mora (NUJ).
