Former CBN Governor Emefiele arraigned
The Department of State Services has arraigned the former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Godwin Emefiele, to court in compliance with the Order of the FCT High Court.
Peter Afunanya, DSS spokesperson, disclosed in a statement on Thursday, July 13, 2023.
According to him, the Service had earlier forwarded an application seeking a court order to detain the ex-governor in its custody for a thorough criminal investigation, which was granted last month.

“Mr Emefiele had obtained a restraining order from an FCT High Court, but the Service, however, arrested him in June 2023 on the strength of suspected fresh criminal infractions and information of which forms the basis for his current prosecution,” he said.
Mr Afunanya reassures the masses of the Service’s commitment to professional ethics and diligence as required by the Constitution in its pursuit of good governance from all public office holders.
He concludes, “The Service assures the public of professionalism, justice and fairness in handling this matter and indeed the discharge of its duties within the confines of the law.”
