Ogun: CP reassures integrity, vows to curb misconduct

The Ogun state police command has reassured citizens of strict law-abiding and orderliness and vowed to thwart any case of misconduct among any of its men (officers).

This was disclosed in a tweet by the state command on Sunday, July 9, 2023.

The release follows the alleged case of lawless operations by the officers belonging to Adigbe Police Station in Abeokuta, as reported by some concerned citizens.

The allegation centers on bribery, asserting that the police officers of the said station have prompted motorcyclists to excuse their coverage routes, particularly in the late hours, thereby making it difficult for people who are returning from work to get rides to their various destinations.

@_FearlessBeing tweeted, “And help us tell Adigbe Police Station to stop collecting money from bike men again. At night, you hardly see bike man wanting to come to Adigbe from Panseke because of your men stopping them to collect bribes.”

Another complainant added, “Those bike men fear those Adigbe police.”

Razaq Malik, another citizen, also confirmed their assertions to be true; however, he stated that the officers’ stop and search of the area is commendable and should never be suspended, but the extortion should be examined.

Reacting to the tweets, the state’s command stated, “We shall set up a manhunt to unravel this complaint.”
