President Tinubu sets to become ECOWAS chairman
The Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to become the new chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) at Guinea-Bissau.
This was disclosed in a statement on Sunday, July 9, 2023.
President Tinubu, who departed Nigeria yesterday to attend 63rd Ordinary Session of Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS in Bissau, Republic of Guinea Bissau, will succeed President Umaro Embalo of Guinea Bissau, who became chairman 4 July 2022 at the 61st summit in Accra.

The statement reads, “Tinubu’s leadership will be announced in Bissau today at the 63rd Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).”
