Mallam AbdurRahman AbdurRazaq confirmed as new NGF chairman

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has confirmed Mallam AbdurRahman AbdurRazaq of Kwara State as the new chairman of the forum.

This was revealed in a statement signed by the former chairman, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, on Tuesday, May 24, 2023.

It also confirmed the Governor of Oyo State, Engr Abiodun Oluwaseyi Makinde, has the new deputy chairman of NGF.

The selection of the duo happened through a consensual vote among all the 36 states governors.

“On the leadership of the Forum, the Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, emerged the new Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum through a consensus, and the Governor of Oyo State Seyi Makinde is now the vice chairman,” the statement reads.

Addressing the public, the Chairman appreciates every member for the trust they had in him and hereby pledged to run an all-inclusive chairmanship by working harmoniously with other members and uphold national interest.

He said, “I will ensure regular consultation with all members in order to arrive at consensus on all issues for the advancement and promotion of national interest, peace, progress, and stability of the nation.”

He added that as a body, we will also continue our tradition of maintaining a close and cordial relationship with His Excellency the President, the National Assembly, all Federal and State institutions, the business community, the civil society, media, and development partners.

Also pledging on collaborative leadership, the Oyo state governor said, “Honoured to be the new Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum.

“I look forward to working with the new Chairman, His Excellency AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the forum secretariat staff and all members of the forum as we strive for inclusive development at the subnational level and effective collaborations at the national level.”
