BREAKING: U.S. Sen. Raphael Warnock reelected

United State Senator, Raphael Warnock, has been reelected.

Warnock defeated the Republican Herschel Walker to win a full six-year term that will give Democrats 51-49 majority in the Senate

The $401 million race was the nation’s most expensive.

Democrat Raphael Warnock defeated Republican Herschel Walker in the Georgia Senate run-off Tuesday, expanding his party’s majority in the chamber and giving them more power to confirm judges and promote legislation.

Democrats had already secured control of the Senate with wins in last month’s general elections; Warnock’s runoff victory gives them a 51st vote, making it easier for the party to push President Joe Biden’s agenda in the face of the incoming Republican majority in the U.S. House.

The runoff for U.S. Senate mostly mirrored the general election, with a key difference: Democratic U.S. Sen. Raphael Warnock won a bit more of the vote in 147 of Georgia’s 159 counties.

DemsAbroad congratulated Warnock on his victory, “Congratulations to @SenatorWarnock for your big victory in Georgia! 🍑 And Thank You to all the Georgians living overseas for your #VoteFromAbroad that helped Warnock win. 🇺🇸
