MURIC Applauds Abdul-Hameed for Landmark Achievements as Pioneer Rector of Federal Polytechnic Ayede
The Oyo State chapter of the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has commended Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed, the pioneer Rector of Federal Polytechnic Ayede, for what it described as a successful and impactful tenure as the founding head of the institution.
In a statement released on Friday, March 13, 2026, and signed by its General State Secretary, Mallam Ibrahim Agunbiade, the Islamic advocacy group also celebrated the academic administrator for receiving several national recognitions during his tenure.
Among the honours cited were the Face of Living Hero of Academic World Award 2025, the Best Rector of the Year 2025, and the Fiscal Discipline and Ethics Compliance Award presented by the Centre for Ethics and Self Value Orientation.
According to MURIC, Dr. Abdul-Hameed assumed office at a time when the Polytechnic was still in its infancy with limited infrastructure and administrative structures, but through visionary leadership and dedication, he laid a solid foundation for the institution’s development.
“Through vision, dedication and purposeful leadership, he transformed the Polytechnic into a rapidly developing institution with visible academic and infrastructural growth,” the statement said.
The organization noted that under his leadership, the Polytechnic introduced about fourteen academic programmes and significantly developed its permanent site within a relatively short period of five years.
MURIC further stated that the outgoing Rector built strong institutional and administrative frameworks that would ensure stability and sustainable growth for the Polytechnic beyond his tenure.
“The pioneer Rector mobilised capable professionals and deployed his experience to build a strong institutional foundation despite the numerous challenges associated with establishing a new tertiary institution,” the statement added.
The group also praised Abdul-Hameed’s commitment to staff welfare and professional development, noting that several members of staff benefited from local and international training programmes designed to enhance institutional productivity.
MURIC equally acknowledged the support of the Polytechnic’s Bursar, Alhaja Rashidah Oladepo, whose contributions were said to have strengthened financial discipline and administrative efficiency within the institution.
The organization further commended the former Rector for fostering cordial relations between the Polytechnic and its host communities, highlighting the role of the institution’s Entrepreneurship Development Centre in empowering youths and strengthening community engagement.
“As he bows out of office with honour and distinction, we pray that Almighty Allah reward his dedication and make his future endeavours even more impactful,” Agunbiade said.
MURIC concluded that Dr. Abdul-Hameed’s pioneering leadership has set a high standard for administrators of newly established federal polytechnics in Nigeria.
