Nigeria Police Recover Two Stolen Vehicles from the Netherlands

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has recorded a major breakthrough in its efforts to combat transnational organized crime with the recovery of two high-end vehicles stolen from the Netherlands and illegally shipped into Nigeria.
According to a statement by the Force, operatives of the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB), Abuja, in collaboration with INTERPOL NCB The Hague, successfully traced and recovered a 2020 Toyota C-HR and a 2019 Toyota RAV4 from separate locations in Lagos and Akwa Ibom States.
Investigations revealed that the vehicles were stolen from Amsterdam and Midden-Nederland before being shipped through the Port of Antwerp, Belgium, and arriving in Lagos in late 2023.
Following due legal processes, the Federal High Court in Abuja granted a final forfeiture order in favour of the Government of the Netherlands, through the vehicles’ insurance company, enabling their lawful repatriation. The INTERPOL NCB Abuja team subsequently handed over the recovered vehicles to representatives of the insurance company and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Nigeria.
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, commended the professionalism of the INTERPOL operatives and lauded the strong collaboration with international partners. He stated that the successful recovery highlights the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to global law enforcement cooperation and its determination to dismantle cross-border criminal networks.
