Lagos police recover 75 mobile phones, 5 laptops abandoned by fleeing suspects in Ikeja

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have recovered 75 mobile devices and five laptops abandoned by fleeing suspects during a routine patrol in the Ikeja area of the state.

The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 5, 2025, when RRS operatives intercepted two suspects who immediately took to their heels upon sighting the patrol team near Allen Roundabout, Ikeja. The suspects abandoned two large “Ghana Must Go” bags as they fled the scene.

Upon inspection, the bags were found to contain 32 iPhones of various models, 38 other smartphones including Samsung, Redmi, Tecno, and Honor brands, as well as five laptops, smart wristwatches, AirPods, a Samsung Tab, a Sorapad, and several damaged phones suspected to have been stolen from different parts of Ikeja and its environs.

The Commander of the RRS, CSP Shola Jejeloye, said preliminary investigations suggested that the items were stolen property hastily abandoned by the fleeing suspects. He urged members of the public who may have lost similar devices to visit the RRS Headquarters in Alausa with verifiable proof of ownership for proper identification and retrieval.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Moshood Jimoh, commended the operatives for their vigilance and professionalism, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing, proactive crime prevention, and the continuous enhancement of public safety across Lagos State.
