Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has intensified efforts to address the rising security challenges in parts of the state, particularly in Kwara North and South.

The Governor recently communicated a formal request for additional security deployment to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, seeking urgent federal intervention to complement state initiatives.

As part of the renewed efforts, the Nigerian Army Headquarters has relocated the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 2 Division, Ibadan, to Kwara State. This strategic move is expected to strengthen security operations and enhance coordination in the fight against banditry and other forms of criminality in the region.

In a decisive step, combined security forces launched an offensive on Monday night against criminals’ hideouts around Baba Sango. The operation resulted in multiple casualties on the side of the criminals, underscoring the renewed determination of security agencies to restore law and order in affected communities.

Governor AbdulRazaq has again personally briefed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the urgent need for the integration of a new and holistic security strategy for Kwara. The Governor stressed that effective collaboration between federal and state security structures remains critical in ensuring lasting peace and stability.

Meanwhile, the Governor is currently presiding over a high-level meeting with security chiefs at the Ahmadu Bello House, Ilorin.

The meeting is expected to finalize a comprehensive security plan tailored to the peculiarities of Kwara communities, with the ultimate aim of restoring peace and guaranteeing the safety of lives and property across the state.
