Police Arrest Six After Deadly Attack on Tactical Teams in Benue

The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the arrest of six suspects in connection with a deadly attack on Police Tactical Teams at Agu Centre, Katsina-Ala/Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.
According to a statement issued by the Force, the attack, which occurred on Friday, September 19, 2025, was carried out by suspected armed herdsmen and local militias. The incident claimed the lives of three police officers, while seven others remain unaccounted for.
The Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command, CP Innocent Ifeanyi Emenari, is leading a rescue operation to recover the missing officers and track down those responsible. Authorities confirmed that the arrested suspects are already in custody and are providing useful information to investigators. Additional tactical units have also been deployed to the affected area.
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun strongly condemned the assault, describing it as “cruel and unwarranted” and “an affront on the good people of Benue State.” He assured that no effort would be spared in restoring peace and dismantling the criminal networks behind the attack.
The Police further appealed to residents of Benue State to remain calm, vigilant, and supportive of ongoing security operations, promising that justice will be pursued for the slain officers and their families.
