“Let’s Save a Life”: Urgent Appeal for Ailing Prof Roko’s Medical Treatment in Egypt

An urgent public appeal has been launched to save the life of Prof. Abubakar Roko, a respected academic in the Department of Computer Science at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS), who has been battling a critical illness.

In a heartfelt message addressed to friends, former students, and well-wishers, Prof. Isa Garba Abor of the Department of Mathematics at UDUS revealed that Prof. Roko has been seriously ill and requires urgent medical intervention abroad.

“We regret to inform you that our beloved friend, Prof. Abubakar Roko… has been ill for some time,” the appeal reads.

“After diagnosis, we have resolved to take him to a hospital in Egypt for proper treatment.”

The total cost of the overseas treatment is estimated at 13 million naira, and the team is racing against time to gather the necessary funds ahead of his scheduled appointment in Egypt on June 16, 2025.

“In these trying times, we appeal to your compassion, solidarity, and sympathy to help raise the said amount. Any contribution, no matter how small, in cash or prayers, will be invaluable in ensuring better treatment for him in Egypt,” Prof. Abor emphasized.

The public has been urged to share the message widely and donate generously to help save the life of a scholar who has made significant contributions to academia and student development in Nigeria.
