Anambra Police Arrest Two Over Abduction, Murder of Female Bank Manager After ₦14m Ransom Payment

In a significant breakthrough, the Anambra State Police Command has arrested two suspects connected to the gruesome kidnap and murder of a female bank manager in Onitsha, even after her family had paid a ransom of fourteen million naira.
Police authorities confirmed the arrests were made on May 28, 2025, following an intense manhunt.
The suspects, identified as Monday Egbe, 32, and Kenneth Nnoga, 28, were tracked to a criminal hideout in a neighbouring state by operatives of the command.
The tragic incident dates back to January 13, 2025, when the lifeless body of the female bank official was discovered along Nnobi Road, blindfolded and dumped by her captors—just days after they had received a ₦14 million ransom from her distraught family.
According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspects are now in custody and undergoing interrogation to uncover details about the criminal network and assist in locating other gang members involved in the heinous crime.
Commissioner of Police CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD assured residents that the command remains committed to its mandate of safeguarding lives and property across Anambra.
He reiterated the command’s resolve to pursue every case to a logical end and ensure justice is not only done but seen to be done.
