Veteran defender Jonny Evans has officially announced his retirement from professional football, closing the curtain on a remarkable career that spanned over a decade at the highest level.

The 36-year-old leaves the game after departing Manchester United, the club where he first rose to prominence and enjoyed his most decorated years.

Evans spent ten seasons with the Red Devils, amassing 241 appearances, netting eight goals, and registering seven assists. His calm presence at the back and tactical intelligence made him a trusted figure under Sir Alex Ferguson and beyond.

His trophy cabinet reflects his contribution to United’s golden era, boasting three Premier League titles, two Football League Cups, one FA Cup, one Champions League, and a FIFA Club World Cup title. Evans also lifted the Community Shield on four occasions.

After stints with West Bromwich Albion and Leicester City, where he continued to display leadership and consistency, Evans returned to Manchester United in 2023 on a short-term deal, offering vital experience in a transitional squad.

A symbol of professionalism and resilience, Jonny Evans exits the game with respect from fans and peers alike, leaving behind a legacy of quiet excellence in English football’s top flight.
