Supreme Council for Shariah in Nigeria President, Sheikh Hadiyyatullah, Passes Away

President of the Supreme Council for Shariah in Nigeria, Sheikh Abdur Rasheed Hadiyyatullah Iwo, has been confirmed dead.

The announcement was made in a statement on Tuesday.

Sheikh Abdur Rasheed also served as the Director of the Sheikh Ibn Baz Shariah College of Nigeria.

The statement reads:
“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. We announce with deep sadness the passing of Sheikh Abdur Rasheed Hadiyyatullah Iwo, President of the Supreme Council for Shariah in Nigeria and Director of Sheikh Ibn Baz Shariah College of Nigeria. Sheikh Abdur Rasheed was a respected Islamic scholar.”

It continued:
“He dedicated his life to the service of Islam, dawah teaching, guiding with sincerity and wisdom. His knowledge, humility, devotion and generosity will be greatly missed.”

Widely recognized for his lifelong devotion to Islam, Sheikh Abdur Rasheed played a central role in dawah, Islamic education, and spiritual leadership. He was known for his humility, wisdom, and generous spirit — qualities that endeared him to his students and the broader Muslim community.

Prayers have been offered for his soul:
“We ask Allah (SWT) to forgive him, have mercy upon him, grant him Jannatul Firdaws and grant the fortitude to bear the passing.”

The Janazah prayer will be held at 2 PM at the Shariah College, Iwo, where family, friends, and the community will gather to bid farewell.

Sheikh Abdur Rasheed’s legacy of faith and service is expected to continue inspiring generations across Nigeria and beyond.
