Osimhen on Fire: Nigerian Star Matches Lewandowski, Gyokeres in 2025 Goal Race
Victor Osimhen has continued his remarkable scoring form in 2025, notching his 17th goal of the year to move level with Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski and Sporting’s Viktor Gyokeres in joint-third among Europe’s top scorers.
The Nigerian-Galatasaray striker struck again on Friday against Samsunspor, pushing him ahead of Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane (14 goals) and Borussia Dortmund’s Serhou Guirassy (13 goals).
Only PSG’s Ousmane Dembele (24 goals) and Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe (19 goals) have outscored the Nigerian forward in Europe this calendar year.
Osimhen’s latest goal came in a crucial away fixture at the Samsun 19 Mayis Stadium as Galatasaray looked to maintain a slender lead in the Turkish Super Lig after their recent derby defeat to Besiktas.
The 25-year-old began his 2025 campaign with a goal against Gotzepe on January 4 and has since netted against Hatayspor, Dynamo Kyiv, Konyaspor, and Ajax. In February, he scored twice versus Rizespor and once against AZ Alkmaar. March was even more prolific, highlighted by a hat-trick against Antalyaspor.
In April, Osimhen struck twice in a 2-1 win over Fenerbahce before adding another against Samsunspor. His season tally now stands at 29 goals and five assists across all competitions: 21 goals and four assists in the league, six goals and one assist in the Europa League, and two in the Turkish Cup.
