Emir of Ilorin Hits, Counters Mudirul Markaz, Declares Sunday as Eid-ul-Fitr
The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has officially declared Sunday, March 30, 2025, as Eid-ul-Fitr, signaling the end of Ramadan.
This announcement appears to counter an earlier declaration by the Mudirul of Markaz in Agege, who had set a different date for the festivities.
In his statement, the Emir affirmed, “Tomorrow, 30th March, is the Eid Fitr 2025.” His proclamation aligns with the moon sighting reports and Islamic traditions upheld by the Ilorin Emirate.
Dr. Muritala Toba, an Ilorin-based scholar, extended his festive wishes to the Muslim community, saying, “Happy Eid Mubarak, friends. May we all witness many more years. Amin.”
The Emir’s announcement is expected to guide Muslims in Ilorin and beyond in their Eid celebrations, reinforcing the unity of the Islamic faithful in observing the sacred occasion.
