JUST-IN: Troops Capture Killers of Catholic Cleric in Kaduna
Troops of Sector 7 of Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) have apprehended the suspected killers of Reverend Father Sylvester Okechukwu, a Catholic priest who was abducted and murdered in Tachira Village, Kaura Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State.
According to a statement released in Jos, Plateau State, by OPSH Media Officer, Major Samson Zhakom, the suspects were arrested on Tuesday during a raid on the prime suspect’s hideout at a Ruga settlement in Warsa-Piti Village, Lere LGA, Kaduna State.
The prime suspect, identified as 33-year-old Pate Yau, reportedly confessed during interrogation that he was contracted by one Douglas Henry, who resided in the same house as the slain priest, to carry out the abduction. Following this revelation, troops conducted a follow-up operation and arrested Henry at Agwan Sariki Tachira in Kaura LGA.
The arrested suspects are currently in custody undergoing further interrogation as security forces intensify efforts to dismantle criminal networks in the region.
