The Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) has successfully mediated peace between Sheikh Habeebullah Adam Al-Ilory and Sheikh Sulaiman Faruq Onikijipa, two prominent Islamic scholars from Ilorin, Kwara State.

The feud between the scholars intensified on social media, reaching its peak when Sheikh Al-Ilory, proprietor of Markaz School of Arabic and Islamic Studies, Lagos, alleged during his Ramadan Tafseer that Sheikh Onikijipa, the Grand Mufti of Ilorin Emirate, was responsible for his health challenges.

In response, Onikijipa denied the accusations, swearing on the Holy Qur’an to affirm his innocence.

Concerned by the escalating dispute, the IEDPU—the apex socio-cultural body in Ilorin Emirate—intervened, dispatching a delegation led by its national president, Alhaji AbdulMalik AbdulMumini, to meet with both scholars in Lagos on Tuesday.

Confirming the mediation, IEDPU’s national publicity secretary, Alhaji Nurudeen Ibrahim, revealed that the scholars met with the group separately and pledged their commitment to peace.
“The body met with the two scholars separately, and they assured us of their commitment to peace,” Ibrahim stated.

Additionally, both scholars reaffirmed their respect for the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, and vowed to maintain harmony within the community.
