Education minister directs FUMMSA to admit first students by September

The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, has tasked the leadership of the Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Abeokuta (FUMMSA), with ensuring the institution welcomes its first cohort of students by September.
Speaking at the inauguration of principal officers for NABTEB, UBEC, and FUMMSA, Dr. Alausa emphasized the need for close collaboration with JAMB and NUC to facilitate a smooth admissions process. He urged the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor, Professor Fatiu Arogundade, to lay a solid foundation for the university and prioritize essential infrastructure development.
The Minister stressed that FUMMSA’s academic programs must align with both national and global healthcare needs, particularly in fields such as nursing, medicine, pharmacy, and dentistry.
Additionally, Dr. Alausa reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s healthcare workforce and enhancing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). He praised President Bola Tinubu’s leadership and commitment to improving public service delivery.
In response, Professor Arogundade expressed gratitude to the President and pledged to uphold integrity, transparency, and excellence in medical education.
