A top Russian lawmaker has dismissed a ceasefire proposal agreed upon by U.S. and Ukrainian officials, asserting that any resolution to the conflict will be dictated on Russia’s terms, not Washington’s.

Konstantin Kosachev, chairman of the international affairs committee in Russia’s upper parliament, emphasized Moscow’s military gains in Ukraine, stating that the dynamics on the battlefield will shape the final terms of any agreement.

“Russia is advancing (in Ukraine), and therefore it will be different with Russia,” Kosachev declared in a Telegram post.

He further insisted that while compromises might be necessary, real agreements are determined on the front lines, not in diplomatic negotiations orchestrated by the United States.

“Any agreements— with all the understanding of the need for compromise— (will be) on our terms, not on American,” he added. “And this is not boasting, but understanding that real agreements are still being written there, at the front. Which they should understand in Washington, too.”
