President Bola Tinubu has called on Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara to respect the Abuja peace agreement and comply with the Supreme Court’s ruling to ensure stability in the state.

Speaking at a meeting with leaders of the Niger Delta under the Pan-Niger Delta Forum at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday, Tinubu emphasized that adhering to judicial decisions is crucial for democracy and national harmony.

“I foresaw the crisis festering for too long before I intervened. We reached a written agreement, and both parties signed. Now, sacrifices must be made for Rivers to move forward,” Tinubu stated, urging leaders to guide Governor Fubara in implementing the court’s decision.

The president reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to economic recovery and national development, calling for collective efforts in community development projects.

“Go back home and take charge of peace. The people of Rivers must be protected, and democracy must not make them suffer,” he declared, signaling a firm stance on resolving the state’s political crisis.
