Dr. Doyin Okupe Dies at 72
Dr. Doyin Okupe, a well-known Nigerian physician, politician, and former presidential aide, has passed away at the age of 72.
Sources close to the family confirmed that Dr. Okupe had been critically ill for several weeks before his demise. His health reportedly deteriorated significantly, causing concern among his loved ones and supporters.
According to reporter, his death was linked to cancer, a disease he had battled for years. In October 2023, it was reported that he was hospitalized with prostate cancer and was flown to Israel for treatment. Unfortunately, his condition did not improve as hoped.
Okupe had a long history of health challenges, having first been diagnosed with prostate cancer 16 years ago. He also battled sarcoma in his right shoulder at a later stage.
His passing marks the end of an era for a man who played significant roles in Nigeria’s political landscape, serving as an aide to several presidents and actively engaging in national discourse until his final days.
