The Jigawa State Government has deployed undercover monitors to ensure proper distribution of meals under its Ramadan feeding initiative, issuing a stern warning to vendors against diversion and mismanagement.

In a statement released on Wednesday in Dutse, the Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwal Sankara, revealed that reports had surfaced about inadequate distribution of meals in 17 feeding centres. The affected local government areas include Garki, Gumel, Guri, Gwiwa, Hadejia, Jahun, Malam Madori, Roni, and Dutse.

Sankara, who oversees the free feeding project, cautioned vendors to comply with established guidelines or face sanctions. “On behalf of the government, I further warn the vendors to be God-fearing and bear in mind that we have secret monitors overseeing the project,” he stated.

Reaffirming the administration’s commitment to transparency, he stressed that mismanagement would not be tolerated and urged stakeholders to uphold their responsibilities to ensure the smooth implementation of the initiative.

The Jigawa government had previously allocated N4.8 billion to designated feeding centres to facilitate the execution of the 2025 Ramadan feeding program.
