Suspected criminal elements believed to be kidnappers were apprehended on Sunday in Oke-Ode community, located in the Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The arrest was made possible through the collaborative efforts of Fulani vigilantes, Yoruba hunters, and local vigilantes.

At the time of reporting, the spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, had not yet confirmed the development. However, the state chairman of the Miyatti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Idris Abubakar Sakaina, praised the joint groups for their determination to rid the area of criminal activities.

In a statement issued by the association’s spokesman, Abubakar Muhammed Kangodabe, it was revealed that the vigilantes successfully arrested several suspected kidnappers and rescued their victims.

“The groups also recovered a cache of weapons, including AK-47 rifles, hard drugs, and various items taken from the victims,” the statement added.

Kangodabe highlighted the swift action of the vigilantes, which led to the arrest of the suspects and the safe release of the kidnapped individuals. “The entire executive council and members of this great association are immensely pleased with the bravery and commitment of the vigilantes,” he said.

MACBAN honored the vigilantes and pledged continued support to bolster the fight against terrorism, banditry, and other criminal activities in the region.
