“Over my dead body”—Arteta vows Arsenal won’t give up on title race despite 11-point gap

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has declared that his team will continue fighting for the Premier League title, despite slipping 11 points behind leaders Liverpool.
Speaking after Arsenal’s 1-0 defeat to West Ham on Saturday, Arteta admitted the loss was a “tough one to take”, but dismissed any notion of conceding the title race.
“Mathematically, it is possible,” he asserted. “Three days ago, we could close a gap, and you are like, ‘you are one-and-a-half games away.’ The difficulty is higher than three days ago, but if you are going to win the Premier League, you have to do something special.”
Arteta stressed that winning the league in the current circumstances would require an extraordinary effort.
“If you are going to win the Premier League with the circumstances we have, you will probably have to do something that nobody else has done in the history of the Premier League.”
With Liverpool maintaining their strong lead, Arsenal faces an uphill battle. The Gunners will face Nottingham Forest in their next Premier League tie with the hope of keeping the league dream alive.
